Cost for CMTE courses offered during the ECMMA Move Along Catch a Song Convention are:

One CMTE course = 3 CMTE credits - $75
Two CMTE courses = 6 CMTE credits - $125

Attendance at all three sessions per course is required to earn the 3 CMTEs offered per course. 

PREREQUISITES: Those wishing to earn CMTE’s must be music therapists (MT-BC).  Attendance is required at all three sessions of each course.  Certificates will be awarded after completion and submission of an evaluation form at the end of the third session of each course.

The two designated CMTE courses at the ECMMA Convention are approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT), each earning 3 Continuing Music Therapy Education credits. The ECMMA #P-121 maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria.

Cancellation for CMTE courses: In the case of cancellation by the approved provider (ECMMA), ECMMA will send word of such cancellation within two weeks of the opening day of the event, and will reimburse all monies collected from the candidate by ECMMA for the event. If a presenter should cancel all fees associated with the CMTE’s for that session will be completely refunded.



  • Ilari – general session Monday, 9:15 - 10:30 am: CMTE 1-1
    Learning Objectives:

    1.  Verbalize the three building blocks of social cognition and their relationships to children's musicking.

    2.  Research into practice - discuss ideas on the applications of social cognition research in early childhood music education

  • Knight, Breakout Session, Wednesday, 8:00 - 9:00 am: CMTE 1-2
    Learning Objectives:

    1.  Participants will understand the implications of Ecological Theory of Social Development on social development in young children.  (CBMT II.A.3.d.)

    2.  Participants will articulate an understanding of the impact of developmental disabilities/neurological/physical conditions on the development of social skills in young children. (CBMT II.A.2.av.)

    3.  Participants will understand the relationship between social skills development, executive function, and related school-readiness skills. (CBMT II.A.2.q.)

    4.  Participants will experience approaches to songs and chants that promote social development in preschool and early elementary inclusion education settings. (CBMT II.A. 4.d.)
